Wow, alot has happenned since last year. We now have 5 more ipads in the ipad cart, all the teachers have been given ipads, and more and more students are bringing in their own devices included laptops and tablets. More and more apps are coming out every day. http://www.teachhub.com/20-amazing-ipad-apps-educators and http://appsineducation.blogspot.com/ are both helpful sites. Google Drive is a great new app which will make using google docs and the ipads much more seemless.
We are also very excited to have started a Technology Help Desk. The Student Technology Internship is a hands-on study of technology operation and integration in a school setting. Students will be required to assess problems and define the best approach to addressing the problem. In addition to working with students and teachers, student interns may be required to complete and maintain ongoing projects that address problems or solutions in educational technology integration.
I am excited about this endeavor and I think that it will prove beneficial to technology staff, the faculty, and the students.
Welcome back to school everyone. I hope that you all had a wonderful summer and that you had time to read. I read a variety of books in both print and electronically using my Kindle App on my Ipad. I did find that when I read in print, I was less distracted and read faster. While on the Ipad, I was more tempted to read email, check Word with Friends, or surf the internet.
The library has been quite busy. We now have two netbook carts, a laptop cart, and an Ipad cart. We still have Kindles to check out. If you would like one, come get a Kindle permission form. New this year, we will be lending netbooks out to responsible students who want to take them back to their study halls to work. Also, if you have a device, laptop or tablet, feel free (speak with Mr. Cleary or Mr. Cyr for approval) to bring it in to work during study hall.
Also, if you have a smart phone or tablet, download the app, Access my library (the green one) and you will have access to all our library online databases and e-books.
Any problems with logging into either the school network or Edline, please come speak with me.
Edline is now here and up and running. All students, teachers and parents should activate their accounts. Click Here for a video on how to set up your edline account.
What does Edline do?
1. Students and parents can access student progress in classes and view homework.
2. The combined calendar feature allows students, parents, and teachers to view one centralized calendar.
